Action Alert: SB252 CALIFORNIA FOSSIL FUEL DIVESTMENT BILL NEEDS IMMEDIATE SUPPORT

SB52 asks California’s biggest public pension funds, CalPERS and CalSTRS, to divest from fossil fuel investments.   EVERY ADVOCATE  IS NEEDED RIGHT NOW – especially CalPERS and CalSTRS members., though you do not have to be a CALPERS or CALSTRS member to support this bill.

Help us get the bill out of committee in June:

1. Call Assemblymember McKinnor, Chair of the House Public Employees and Retirement Committee, to urge a yes vote. Several of us met with her Lead staff last week and he said she especially wants to hear from CalPERS and STRS pensioners.  We are working with Fossil Free California on a phone banking effort. 2. Contact your Assemblymember. If you haven’t already done this, please sign the online letter urging your Assemblymember to vote for SB 252. Please ask three friends to sign the online letter.
3.  Send a letter to the CalPERS or CalSTRS Board urging them to support the Bill.
